DETROIT - Federal-Mogul Corp. has won a contract to supply its one-piece steel piston to a maker of heavy-duty truck engines that it did not identify. The five-year deal is expected to generate $100 million in sales.
Federal-Mogul, of Southfield, Mich., markets its all-steel piston technology as Monosteel. Conventional pistons combine a forged steel crown with aluminum skirts. The deal calls for the company to begin supplying the piston in spring 2003.
