Union workers at Valeo Electrical Systems Inc.'s Rochester, N.Y., plant will vote May 5 on a revised contract containing unspecified concessions.
Valeo Electrical, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December, and leaders of Local 509 of the IUE-CWA reached a tentative agreement Friday, April 12, said Joe Giffi, the local's president. He wouldn't reveal details, but management had sought wage and benefit concessions plus job cuts in exchange for buyout incentives.
About 2,130 active members and 280 members on an accelerated retirement program are eligible to vote. The two parties had signed an eight-year contract in August 2000.
