The Chrysler group hopes to put PT Cruiser sales back into the fast lane with this fall's launch of the turbocharged GT model.
PT Cruiser sales softened late last year and in January because Chrysler didn't offer 0 percent financing or hefty cash-back incentives on the retro-styled vehicle. The GT will compete with the Ford Focus five-door hatch-back, Pontiac Vibe and Toyota Matrix.
The GT is powered by a turbo-boosted 2.4-liter inline-four driving through a Getrag five-speed manual transmission. It is expected to be priced at about $22,000.
