March 26 -- These days, when every dealer wants more trucks, it's rare for an automaker to decide not to build an all-American pickup.
But that's what Honda is telling its dealers, at least for now. That's because Honda would have to start from scratch. It doesn't have any body-on-frame vehicles to base it on, let alone a V-8.
So for now, Honda will stick with sport-utilities.
The popular CR-V was just re-done last November. This week in New York Honda will show the Pilot crossover vehicle. And coming later is a geeky tall wagon that Honda thinks young men will covet.
Maybe they'll just saw off part of the top, slap on some body cladding and make a combination vehicle, like the Avalanche.
