Volkswagen's all-new Phaeton luxury sedan comes to market in the spring with a choice of two engines and a starting price of about $60,000 for the U.S. market. The car, the result of VW Chairman Ferdinand Piech's dream of carving out a presence in the ultra-luxury segment for the maker of Beetles and Golfs, will be powered either by an all-new 6.0-liter W12 rated at 420 hp or a 3.2-liter, 241-hp V-6. Among its technical features are a cockpit information-and-entertainment console, air suspension on all wheels and active front head restraints.
