For a peek into the future of the Lincoln brand, look to the Continental concept unveiled at the Los Angeles show, says design director Gerry McGovern.
The rear-drive sedan is powered by a 6.0-liter, 48-valve V-12 rated at 414 hp. "The Continental's exterior surfaces are clean and uninterrupted. The car has a very strong horizontal emphasis. The sheered body sides provide visual strength and weight, and anchor the vehicle to the ground," McGovern said.
He said there were two major objectives for the Continental's design: good interior space and easy entry and exit.
The Lincoln concept rides on a 136.6-inch wheelbase and is 214 inches long. Entry and exit was made easier by eliminating a B-pillar and by using center-opening doors, which have a 90-degree swing.
