Fiat Auto S.p.A. has named two executives to important positions.
Giuseppe Perlo, 55, leads the company development department. Nevio Di Giusto, 47, heads the product engineering department. Both departments are new. Perlo's responsibility is to identify new product opportunities. He also will oversee product planning relations with General Motors. And he will manage the joint ventures with PSA/Peugeot-Citroen SA for full-sized minivans and light commercial vehicles.
Perlo had headed the product development department. That department is being dissolved. Product planners are under Juan Jose Diaz Ruiz's sales and marketing operation. Diaz Ruiz is a former top Audi and Toyota Europe executive. He was hired last year to improve Fiat's market focus. Diaz Ruiz is executive vice president for sales and marketing.
Fiat said the changes came about in part by a 'decision to focus on further brand enhancement.'
Di Giusto had been platforms chief. The technical staff in the product development department is being placed in the product engineering department. That department is responsible for setting product specifications, r&d and design.
Renato Zambrano had led the engineering department. He is retiring. Daniele Bandiera, 43, is replacing Di Giusto. Bandiera is Fiat's former head of production.
Marco Mazzu, production head of Fiat Auto's Brazilian subsidiary, replaces Bandiera.
Fiat also said Alessandro Zappulli would retire as head of logistics. Gianluigi Seri, of Italian tire maker Pirelli, will replace him.
