The CEO of Volvo Cars Japan is moving to a similar role in North America.
Dan Werbin - CEO in Japan since 1996 - is a 30-year Volvo veteran. Achievements include supervising development of the Volvo S40 and V40. He was 'the driving force behind the 850 in 1991, the first front-wheel-driven product from Volvo,' says Soren Johansson, manager of corporate communication.
Werbin is 57. He has a background in product planning, engineering, sales and executive management.
Necip Soyak, 53, will take over for Webin in Japan. He was North American vice president of international business. He will be responsible for all Volvo activities in Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. He joined Volvo last year. The Turkey native has worked in Spain and Japan.
The two will work together in Japan until Werbin transfers to New Jersey later this year.
