Sales of Class 8 trucks sank again in February.
It was the 11th straight monthly decline for the big trucks. February's 42.2 percent plunge was the second-sharpest monthly fall in that period.
A total of 10,699 Class 8 trucks were sold in the United States last month. That put sales for the year at 22,057, a 37.1 percent drop from the year earlier.
Other segments of the medium- and heavy-duty truck market showed declines, too. Class 7 sales dropped 32.2 percent; Class 6 sales were off 14.9 percent; and Class 5 sales were off 19.5 percent.
Class 4 trucks once again were the exception to the trend, rising in February as they had the month before. Last month's increase was 21.3 percent.
Total sales of medium- and heavy-duty trucks were off 29.3 percent for the month and are down 24.4 percent for the year.
