Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin's chief executive, said the automaker plans to boost production and expand its worldwide dealer network with the launch of its V-12 Vanquish.
The flagship was unveiled Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the Geneva show. The car goes on sale in Europe this summer and will be priced at e250,350, or about $228,400.
'The Premier Automotive Group will allow us to strengthen the Aston Martin brand and its profile,' Bez said at the show. 'It gives us the opportunity to dip into a deep pool of resources, (and) it will increase our reputation as a global player.'
Besides Aston Martin, Ford Motor Co.'s Premier Automotive Group includes Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln and Mercury.
Bez said Aston Martin will build 1,300 vehicles this year, 300 more than in 2000. The automaker plans to expand its dealer network to 140 dealers in 31 countries, up from approximately 65.
