Loaner could be a rental for Saab owners
ST. LOUIS - Saab owners who bring their cars to dealerships for warranty service could end up with a rental car for a loaner because of a new partnership between Saab Cars USA and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Dealers will authorize an Enterprise rental if a customer's car is still under warranty, if it must be held overnight to complete repairs or if a dealership loaner vehicle is unavailable.
Goodwrench shop opens
FLORENCE, Ky. - A Goodwrench Service Center has opened here.
Goodwrench Service Centers are stand-alone shops that handle light repairs and maintenance. The centers target owners of 4- to 10-year-old General Motors vehicles and non-GM vehicles outside their warranty periods.
The new center, the nation's third, is owned and operated by Tom Gill of Tom Gill Chevrolet of Florence, Ky. Other Goodwrench Service Centers are in Houston and in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Snap-on supplying Sterling
KENOSHA, Wis. - Snap-on Inc. has been named the exclusive supplier of equipment to Sterling Collision Centers, a national chain of auto body repair shops.
As part of a two-year agreement, Snap-on will outfit 38 existing and 40 new Sterling centers with equipment ranging from vehicle lifts to paint booths. Sterling has facilities in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Terms of the agreement were not released.
Caliber shops join group
BEDFORD, Texas - Fifty-three Caliber Collision Center shops have become members of the national Automotive Service Association. Caliber was founded in 1991 by body shop owners in Southern California and has shops in California and Texas.
The Automotive Service Association is a not-for-profit trade association of more than 12,000 businesses and approximately 70,000 professionals from all segments of the automotive service industry. It is headquartered here.
Repair chain expands
CHARLOTTE, N.C . - AutoPact has expanded into the Jacksonville, Fla., market.
AutoPact opened two locations in January. It was the company's first expansion since it was founded in Charlotte in 1998.
AutoPact is a membership-based repair and maintenance chain. Customers pay a flat monthly fee to get total car care.
