Wolfgang Schrempp - Jurgen's brother - took over as head of DaimlerChrysler Italy in 1999 after four years in charge of the Mercedes-Benz office in Munich. Before that, he was head of Mercedes' branch in Fribourg, Switzerland. He also worked at Mercedes' truck division in Stuttgart. Schrempp says he likes to have fun at work - mountains of paperwork permitting.

1953 Mercedes-Benz 320 SL gullwing.
What is your passion in life?
To have a lot of fun at work.
What is your greatest achievement to date?
On the family side, this wonderful one-off prototype that is my daughter. On the business side, setting record sales for Mercedes-Benz in Italy.
Where do you get your best ideas?
Listening to good classical music.
Is there anything you dislike about your life?
All day long I have too much paper on my desk. I hate paper.
What people do you admire within the auto business?
Wendelin Wiedeking of Porsche, my boss Jurgen and former Mercedes-Benz designer Bruno Sacco.
What companies do you admire outside the car business?
Small organizations where the heads of the companies are also the owners, such as Brioni and Escada. Also a big company such as Siemens.
How do you relax?
Drink a wonderful glass of red wine, listen to music or play golf.
What kind of food do you like best?
Seafood - especially calamari and scampi.
Do you cook?
A little bit, but just typical German food such as brat kartoffeln (pan fried potatoes).
Do you have a favorite restaurant?
La Pergola at the Cavalieri Hilton hotel in Rome.
Do you have a favorite holiday destination?
Costa Smeralda, Sardinia, when close to Italy. Cape Town in South Africa for long trips.
Do you have a favorite film?
Out of Africa starring Meryl Streep.
What are your hobbies?
Golf and anything related to technology and electronics.

Impatient, fair, but tough.

To increase our market share in Italy and to satisfy our customers 100 percent.
