It is hard to take seriously the legal scuffle between DaimlerChrysler and General Motors over which company is entitled to use a grille with seven vertical slats on new products. Both GM's Hummer H2 and DCX's Jeep Liberty use the look, which apparently is a significant brand characteristic. DCX has sued GM, which says Hummer has used the design for 16 years.
Actually, both the H2 and the Liberty seem to have legacy rights. The Hummer design was created by AM General Corp. when it was part of American Motors, which also owned Jeep Corp.
The look is from the same gene pool. Get over it.
