Automotive News has been honored with the coveted 2001 Diamond Award from Women in Communications of Detroit.
Judges said the award was made because 'Automotive News showed extreme efforts to formally recognize the accomplishments of women in the automobile industry' by publishing the special report '100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry.'
The special section was published in the Sept. 11, 2000, edition of Automotive News. The 100 women were honored at a gala dinner program Sept. 19, 2000.
The Diamond Award, which began in 1984, recognizes efforts by companies, organizations or individuals that create a work environment in which women can thrive or whose activities enhance the status of women.
Past winners have included General Motors, Ford Motor Co., Cadillac Division and Crain's Detroit Business, which also is published by Crain Communications Inc.
