Ten assembly plants are down for inventory adjustment this week, and nine of them are General Motors factories. Among them is GM's Oshawa, Ontario, Line 1, which has been working overtime most Saturdays since October 1999. It builds the Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo.
Also down are Oshawa, Ontario, Line 2; Lansing, Mich., M and C; Fairfax (Kansas City, Kan.); Lordstown, Ohio; Orion Township, Mich.; Ste. Therese, Quebec; and Shreveport, La.
Also down is Chrysler's Jeep Wrangler plant in Toledo, Ohio.
Five plants will work overtime this week. GM will work overtime at Arlington, Texas (Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon), Thursday and Saturday; Fort Wayne, Ind. (Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra), will work overtime Friday; and Bowling Green, Ky. (Corvette) will work its usual daily overtime.
Ford Motor Co. continues to work daily overtime at Dearborn, Mich. (Ford Mustang); and Kansas City, Mo. (Ford Escape, Mazda Tribute).
