Chung Mong Koo, chairman of Hyundai Motor Co., helped put the Korean auto industry on the world stage. The Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn, Mich., recognized his efforts by awarding him a Distinguished Service Citation at the NADA convention.
The four others receiving citations for 2001 were:
Takeshi Uchiyamada, a director of Toyota Motor Corp. and chief engineer of the hybrid electric Toyota Prius.
Ross Roberts, retired vice president of Ford Motor Co. and general manager of both Ford Division and Lincoln Mercury.
Pat Moran, president of Southeast Toyota Distributors Inc., the world's largest private Toyota distributor.
Mike Dale, retired president of Jaguar Cars North America.
