WASHINGTON - Automotive News Staff Reporter Harry Stoffer has been awarded the 2000 Golden Quill for excellence in automotive journalism by the Washington Automotive Press Association.
The association gave the award for a story that explained the positive influence trial lawyers can have on automotive safety. The case was made by profiling J. Kendall Few, a product liability attorney in Green-ville, S.C.
The story was part of a special Automotive News section on engineering that was published March 6, 2000.
The award was presented to Stoffer at a Jan. 25 dinner in Washington.
At the same event, the press association gave its annual Golden Gear Award for industry achievement to Richard Parry-Jones, Ford Motor Co. group vice president for global product development and quality.
Stoffer, a Washington reporter for 12 years, has received the Washington Automotive Press Association's Golden Quill in three of the four years he has been with Automotive News.
