Eaton wins $500 million GM contract
CLEVELAND - Eaton Corp. was awarded a $500 million contract to supply General Motors with an engine component for an undisclosed future North American truck.
The component's technology is geared toward improving fuel economy without sacrificing power.
Dana to supply Renault-Nissan
POISSY, France - Dana Corp.'s Perfect Circle Europe Division will supply piston rings for Renault-Nissan's first diesel engine.
The parts will be used in the Nissan Micra, scheduled to begin production in the second half of 2002, and the Renault Clio, which is expected to start production in 2003.
AM General chooses ABB
DETROIT - ABB Paint Automation, a division of ABB Automation Inc., won a contract from AM General Corp. to supply paint shop equipment and automation for a new assembly plant in Mishawaka, Ind. AM General's plant will make the Hummer H2 starting in 2002.
GKN buys PresMet
DETROIT - GKN Sinter Metals, a subsidiary of GKN PLC, bought powder metal parts supplier PresMet Corp. of Worcester, Mass.
PresMet Corp.'s sales for its 2000 fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, 2000, were $36 million. PresMet builds components for steering columns, engines and transmissions.
Triflex gets new business
DETROIT - ArvinMeritor Inc. of Troy, Mich., awarded minority supplier Triflex Industries a $3.5 million contract to supply stabilizer bar suspension assemblies. Triflex will produce the assemblies at its plant in Taylor, Mich. The contract extends through the 2001 model year.
Wescast to supply Nissan
BRANTFORD, Ontario - Wescast Industries Inc. will supply machined exhaust manifolds and catalytic converter containers for Nissan's new V-6 engine program.
