GREENWICH, Conn. - Michael Duke, an automotive finance veteran, died Feb. 1. He was 58. Duke was CFO of Volvo North America Corp. from 1982 to 1989. While there, he co-founded Volvo Finance North America Inc. He became CEO of Volvo Finance North America in 1989 but left in 1996 to join GE Capital Auto Financial Services as its managing director for Europe. In 1997 he became president of Autobytel.com Acceptance Corp. He left in 1999 to found Auto Shops on the Net, an online sales lead distribution company.
PALM CITY, Fla. - Joseph Kordick, former vice president and general manager of Ford Motor Co.'s Parts and Service Division, died Wednesday, Feb. 7. He was 69. Kordick began his 32-year career with Ford as part of the finance staff and held numerous management positions. During the 1980s, he championed the employee-involvement cultural change at Ford and remained committed to customers and dealers. He was named an Automotive News All-Star in 1988 for his work at the automaker. Kordick retired in 1989.
