SPARTANBURG AUTOMOTIVE - Stephen Thies to president and CEO. He was president of his own firm, Heartland Consulting, and was a senior partner at Swoboda and Associates.
Spartanburg Automotive of Spartanburg, S.C., manufactures stampings, assemblies and modules.
CONOCO - John Powers to automotive development manager for the new Carbon Fibers business unit. The new segment will target carbon fibers usage for automotive applications that include electrostatically painted parts, structural components and alternative fuel sources. Powers was director of sales and marketing for SP USA, a San Diego materials company.
THE HAARTZ CORP. - Tim Jackson to vice president of sales and marketing for interiors. He was director of automotive sales for interiors.
Haartz of Acton, Mass., supplies moldable automotive interior trim materials and sport-utility and convertible topping fabrics.
COOPER INDUSTRIES INC. - Ralph Jackson Jr. to COO, a new position. He was executive vice president of operations, with responsibility for Cooper's Electrical Products segment.
Terry Klebe to chief information technology officer. He is senior vice president of strategic sourcing. He will continue to lead Cooper's Strategic Sourcing initiative.
David White Jr. to new venture development officer. He is senior vice president of strategic planning. He will continue his responsibilities for developing and coordinating Cooper's strategic planning and acquisition activities.
ADAC PLASTICS INC. - John Shape to general counsel and secretary/treasurer. He has provided legal counsel to ADAC since 1988, as managing partner and leader of the business practice group for the law firm McShane & Bowie.

JOHNSON CONTROLS INC. - Jerry Beaubien to vice president and senior executive in charge of the Johnson Controls Leadership Institute. He was vice president and general manager for Johnson Controls in South America.
Mike Lamach to group vice president and general manager for the General Motors worldwide, Toyota worldwide and Nissan North America customer business units. He was vice president and general manager of North American commercial business for the company's Integrated Facility Management business.
