Dana to sell U.K. business
TOLEDO, Ohio - Dana Corp. of Toledo, Ohio, plans to sell its forging operations in Kirkstall, England.
Dana's Kirkstall facility supplies forgings for parts used in off-highway axles and equipment used in the oil and gas industry. The forging business, with 2000 revenue of about $8.5 million, has 200 employees. Dana said it considers forging a noncore technology.
The Kirkstall plant also has 250 employees in its off-highway axle engineering, manufacturing, assembly and sales business. These operations are not for sale.
XM links with programmers
WASHINGTON - XM Satellite Radio in Washington, D.C., has signed programming agreements with the Discovery Channel and comedy producers National Lampoon and Firesign Theatre.
XM will offer its subscribers a new Discovery Channel radio station, National Lampoon radio shows and a live Firesign Theatre comedy show.
Tech provider opens office
NEW YORK - Technology provider Information Builders opened an automotive office in Troy, Mich.
The New York company designs systems that help automakers and suppliers manage and analyze manufacturing and customer service data. Clients include General Motors, Ford Motor Co. and ArvinMeritor Inc.
Pilkington signs Web pact
PITTSBURGH - After completing a six-month pilot program, glass supplier Pilkington PLC signed an agreement with FreeMarkets Inc. to use its Global Marketplace online exchange. The contract length was not disclosed.
Ballard gets Honda order
VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Canadian supplier Ballard Power Systems received a $1.3 million order from Honda R&D Co. Ltd. of Saitama, Japan, for fuel cell power modules and support services.
Honda will use the modules, which Ballard makes at its plant in Vancouver, British Columbia, for research and development.
Visteon chooses Vastera
DULLES, Va. - Visteon Corp. of Dearborn, Mich., has chosen Vastera Inc. of Dulles, Va., to manage its North American import and export information, including trade regulation data and international shipping documentation. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
