TDS purchases pmcAmerica
DETROIT - Information technology provider pmcAmerica has been acquired by TDS Group in Neckarsulm, Germany, and has changed its name to TDS America.
TDS America, established in April 1998 as pmcAmerica, is a subsidiary of TDS Informationstechnologie AG, a full-service IT consultant with 1,300 employees in 12 countries.
Terms were not released.
'As part of the global TDS Group, we now have the international reach and additional areas of expertise to better service our clients,' said TDS America President Manfred Heisen.
Equity stake acquired
DAYTON, Ohio - Reynolds and Reynolds Co. has acquired a 10 percent equity stake in Networkcar, a San Diego company specializing in wireless technology for the auto retailing industry, and exclusive distribution rights for North American automotive retailers.
Founded in 1999, Networkcar has developed CAReader, an in-vehicle, self-contained wireless appliance that collects and transmits vehicle diagnostic information for customer relationship management, warranty tracking, lease monitoring and servicing purposes.
'We see CRM as the fastest growing need in the automotive industry, and telematics will be a critical CRM tool,' said Reynolds CEO Buzz Waterhouse.
CAReader monitors general diagnostic data and a variety of other systems, including fuel, brake, transmission and emission systems. The Networkcar system is compatible with all vehicles manufactured since 1996.
FreeMarkets, Pilkington deal
PITTSBURGH - FreeMarkets Inc. has signed a new agreement with Pilkington plc, a manufacturer of glass and glazing products for the automotive, building and aerospace industries based in St. Helens, United Kingdom.
Under terms of the agreement, FreeMarkets will continue to provide Pilkington with access to its B2B Global Marketplace, which Pilkington will use to purchase goods and services for its operations worldwide.
The agreement follows the successful completion of a pilot program FreeMarkets and Pilkington began in July.
To date, Pilkington has conducted transactions worth more than $25 million through the FreeMarkets B2B Global Marketplace.
FreeMarkets has executed more than 6,800 online auctions for more than $10.5 billion worth of goods and services and created estimated savings of nearly $2.0 billion for its customers.
