LAS VEGAS - Martin NeSmith has won the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award.
NeSmith, president of NeSmith Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Pontiac Inc. in Claxton, Ga., was scheduled to receive his award Saturday, Feb. 3, at the National Automobile Dealers Association convention here.
Sixty-one dealers were nominated this year.
The Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award recognizes outstanding new-car dealers for exceptional performance in their dealerships and distinguished community service.
The award is co-sponsored by Time and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in cooperation with NADA.
Faculty members from the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business Administration select the winners.
NeSmith began his automotive career with Jim Siefert Associates as a manufacturer's representative helping local distributors sell equipment to new-car dealers. In 1974 he opened the Chevrolet dealership in Claxton. He added the Oldsmobile franchise in 1982 and the Pontiac franchise in 1984.
