Goodwrench opens pilot body shops
GRAND BLANC, Mich. - The first Goodwrench Auto Body Centers in the country have opened in Florida and Texas.
The centers are body repair shops. Eventually, the centers will become part of a national network of dealer auto body repair centers.
The Goodwrench pilots are at Kelley Chevrolet in Hallendale, Fla.; Crest Auto Group in Plano, Texas; and Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, Texas.
Volvo trains technicians
ROCKLEIGH, N.J. - Volvo Cars of North America Inc. has teamed up with Universal Technical Institute to educate technicians in Volvo technologies and systems.
The 16-week Service Automotive Factory Education program is for entry-level technicians. Volvo says the training provides the basis for certification, along with other standards, as a Volvo Master Technician.
The first class of five students began instruction Nov. 20 in the Chicago area. To be accepted into the program, students had to demonstrate an outstanding record at their undergraduate program, agree to periodic drug testing, be willing to move and agree to work exclusively for a Volvo retailer for a minimum of six months.
Parts locator debuts
SEATTLE - Cobalt Group has developed an original equipment parts locator.
PartsVoice DirectLink allows wholesale parts purchasers and consumers to find and order parts on a dealer's Web site, increasing inventory turn rate and reducing the time parts counter staff spends on the phone responding to parts requests. Cobalt provides e-commerce products for auto dealers.
