Hey, we're back.
So far this week, the biggest gathering of our pals was at the J.D. Power and Associates International Automotive Roundtable at the Four Seasons Hotel.
Bernd Pischetsrieder, who spoke at the Power gig Thursday night was in rare form. The former BMW AG chairman who now is on the Volkswagen AG board of management threw some humor into his speech. Afterward, we asked him about reports in German newspapers that within a year he would replace Ferdinand Piech as VW honcho. Bernd said he had been on vacation and didn't have a clue, but that he had learned not to believe what he reads in the papers. Ouch!
Speaking of former BMW execs, Victor Doolan has relocated to the left coast as part of the Premier Automotive Group hierarchy. Vic couldn't stop talking about his new digs … and how he and his wife love early morning walks down to the shore.
Charlie Hughes, who just took the reins at Mazda, was flush with success because Mazda sales in January were up 33 percent. Attaboy, Charlie.
Friday before breakfast, we spotted AutoNation CEO Mike Jackson in blue sweats on the way back from his workout. It must have been some workout because right before lunch Mike was pumped up at the J.D. Power podium.
We'll be back tomorrow with more of the good stuff. To be a tipster, give us a call at 892-3424.
And remember, it's just between us.
