HYUNDAI MOTOR JAPAN CO. - Synn Myung-shik is president, replacing Kim Gin-su, who returned to Hyundai's overseas department in Seoul. Synn, 55, was senior managing director for planning at Hyundai headquarters in Seoul.
YANASE & CO. - Yasutaka Inayama is senior managing director. Inayama, 33, is the grandson of chairman Jiro Yanase and the son of President Takahide Inayama, who is Jiro Yanase's son-in-law. The younger Inayama was promoted from director two years after he joined the Tokyo dealer of foreign brands such as General Motors and Mercedes-Benz. The appointment raised expectations that Inayama, who remains in charge of corporate planning, will be a successor of the president.
AMERICAN AXLE & MANUFACTURING HOLDINGS - Patrick Paige has been named president and CEO of the United Kingdom subsidiary, Albion Automotive, and managing director of American Axle & Manufacturing Europe. He was director of labor relations.
BORGWARNER MORSE TEC - Roger J. Wood is president. He also was appointed a vice president of BorgWarner Inc. In his new position, Wood, 38, will be responsible for Morse TEC operations worldwide. He joined BorgWarner in 1985 and has been instrumental in refining the international business strategy for the company's four-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive business, and in execut- ing Morse TEC's growth strategy in the North American engine-timing systems business. He most recently served as vice president of business development for BorgWarner Torq- Transfer Systems in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Borg- Warner Morse TEC, a BorgWarner operating group, designs and manufactures automotive chain systems and components for engine timing, automatic transmission and four-wheel drive applications.
GENERAL MOTORS - Rick Swando is general director of the Communications Support Group. He was president and managing director of GM India. Swando began his GM career in 1992 as director of the China Program Development in Hong Kong. GM's Communications Support Group is a unit of GM's Enterprise Activities Group, which provides real estate, travel, financial, personnel and health support services.
GENERAL MOTORS POWERTRAIN - Darrel Phillips is manager of the Saginaw Malleable Iron plant in Michigan. He was manager of aluminum and iron foundries at the GM do Brasil Sao Jose dos Campos plant.
NISSAN NORTH AMERICA INC. - Tracy Lynn Woodard, 35, is corporate manager of state relations for American operations. She will be responsible for all state government activities in the United States. She was a lobbyist for Smith Johnson & Carr of Nashville, Tennessee.
PRIMUS FINANCIAL SERVICES - John Sheppard is national account manager for Land Rover. He will oversee the launch of the Land Rover private financial label and manage the Land Rover account. He was business development manager for Ford Credit International. Primus, in Franklin, Tennessee, serves automotive customers. It is a division of Ford Motor Credit Co., a unit of Ford Motor Co.
