Surrounded by illuminated surfboards and flanked by teams of high-flying skateboarders, American Honda Motor Co. left no doubt about the target buyer of its new Model X concept vehicle.
"If an active 20-year-old guy were to design a vehicle, this is what he might come up with."
The Model X — an innovative four-seat sport-utility targeted at Generation Y men — made its global debut Tuesday.
Honda will put the vehicle on the auto show circuit and gauge reaction from potential buyers.
Elliott said the Model X could be a production vehicle. Another source said it's a done deal.
The Model X probably would sell for less than $25,000, he said. It would be sold primarily in North America, officials said, though it could be appropriate for niche Japanese markets.
Production volume likely would be less than 100,000 a year, Elliott said.
