Mexico City - Last year was a record year for sales and production of light vehicles in Mexico.
How big a record won't be known until the December figures come in later this month But previous sales records were shattered in November. And the production record was shattered in October.
Sales for the first 11 months were 749,690. That easily outpaced last year's 665,783 total and the record 706,914 units sold in 1992.
In November, sales were 83,003, up 29.4 percent from the year-ago month.
Mexican production also has eclipsed last year's record of 1.49 million. For the first 11 months, production was 1,757,276. That was helped by production of 163,119 units in November.
For the second straight month, the best-selling Mexican-built vehicle was the Nissan Tsuru, with 6,761 sales. Sales of the Tsuru are up 36.0 percent for the year.
