With the revived Thunderbird ready to take flight this year as a 2002 model, Ford again dips into the nameplate's storied past to create the Thunderbird Sports Roadster concept for the 2001 Detroit auto show. The concept, based on the Thunderbird Sports Roadsters from the 1962 and 1963 model years, uses a molded glass fiber tonneau to cover the convertible top and space behind the seats. The headrests blend into the tonneau cover, which extends down between the white leather seats. Production is likely for the 2003 or 2004 model year.
