SAWYER, Mich. - Edward Weiss, a longtime Ford dealer, died Nov. 26. He was 79. Weiss began his automotive retail career with Ford Motor Co. in 1953, when he became the first black salesman for Ford in Detroit. He became a top seller and moved into management. Weiss opened his first Ford dealership in Banning, Calif., but eventually sold it and returned to Michigan. He was a dealership consultant until 1984, when he opened a store in Sawyer, Mich. He retired in 1994.
