Lear wins Mazda business for sports car
DETROIT - Lear Corp. will supply Mazda Motor Corp. with an interior system for a future sports car that will be built in Hiroshima, Japan.
Lear, of Southfield, Mich., will manage six suppliers during the design and production of the vehicle's interior. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.
Lear estimates Mazda will produce about 60,000 to 70,000 units per year. It will be sold in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and South America.
Autoliv sells OEA aerospace
STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Swedish safety systems supplier Autoliv Inc. will sell OEA Aerospace Inc. to BF Goodrich Co. of Charlotte, N.C.
The cash transaction is expected to be complete by year end or in early January 2001. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.
Four join fuel cell group
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The California Fuel Cell Partnership added four companies as associate partners: Hydrogen Burner Technology Inc. of Long Beach, Calif.; Pacific Gas and Electric Co. of San Francisco; Proton Energy Systems Inc. of Rocky Hill, Conn.; and Stuart Energy Systems Corp. of Toronto.
These companies will work to develop a hydrogen fueling infrastructure in California. Each company will provide one hydrogen fueling station for the partnership's demonstration program.
Dana to divest
TOLEDO, Ohio - Dana Corp. plans to divest its Quinton Hazell Group.
Quinton Hazell, of Nuneaton, United Kingdom, manufactures and distributes aftermarket components in Europe. The company had 1999 sales of $275 million.
Dana, of Toledo, Ohio, will use the funds from this divestiture for investment in technology and debt reduction.
Federal-Mogul joins Jasper
DETROIT - Gasoline and diesel engine remanufacturer Jasper Engines & Transmissions, of Jasper, Ind., selected Federal-Mogul Corp., of Southfield, Mich., to supply its replacement engine bearings, pistons, gaskets, piston rings and piston assemblies.
Lear supplies Saturn
DETROIT - Lear Corp. of Southfield, Mich., began supplying its SonoTec EP acoustic material to General Motors for its new Saturn VUE sport-utility made in Spring Hill, Tenn.
SonoTec EP, made of recycled carpet scrap, is designed to reduce in-vehicle noise.
