Robert Lutz, former president and vice chairman of Chrysler Corp., offered this advice to Dieter Zetsche, new CEO of Chrysler group:
1. 'Keep pushing good product that meets stringent investment and variable cost targets.'
2. Don't do an Accord-fighter: At Chrysler, 'the product has always got to be unique and different.'
3. Make bold decisions and 'get rid of this touchy-feely, human-resources, `everybody's equal' crap.'
4. Emphasize public relations: 'Chrysler has gone from the image of a winner to the image of a loser.'
