A Louisville, Ky., Ford dealer and his son have ended their court battle with a mediated settlement after nine days of testimony in Jefferson County Circuit Court in Louisville.
Terms of the agreement reached between Gary Collins and his father, William Collins, are confidential, Gregory Bubalo, the attorney for Gary Collins, said last week.
'What I can say is the settlement gives the family a chance to get back together,' Bubalo said.
'That's a good thing about it.'
Gary Collins had sued his father, who owns Bill Collins Ford Inc. and Downtown Ford Inc., alleging he was fired unfairly from his job running Downtown Ford because he would not guarantee a loan to Bill Collins Ford, an unprofitable operation.
Bubalo said the younger Collins, who owns 20 percent of Downtown Ford, refused because he believed it was not in the best financial interests of Downtown Ford.
Pretrial attempts to settle the case had failed.
Bubalo said William Collins' attorney suggested mediation after Bubalo's cross-examination of Kevin Collins, another son and partial owner of Downtown Ford.
