Carfax Web traffic soars
FAIRFAX, Va. - Visitor activity on the Carfax.com Web site increased almost 150 percent between the first and second quarters of this year.
Scott Fredericks, vice president of marketing for Carfax, attributes the increased Web site traffic to a public relations and advertising campaign the company started earlier this year. 'Since then consumers have checked 6.2 million cars through our database - that's one vehicle identification number every 1.2 seconds,' he said.
WebSideStory Inc., a San Diego provider of Internet intelligence and Web audience analysis, provides Web traffic verification for Carfax. WebSideStory collects and measures online visitor and customer behavior data by using its HitBox Enterprise service.
Carfax.com is a consumer Internet site that researches used-vehicle histories for problems such as flood damage, odometer fraud and collision damage.
