The eighth annual Automotive News ranking of the largest suppliers to North America appears on the following pages.
The list ranks 150 companies according to their 1999 North American sales of original-equipment parts. Sales of components for light vehicles and commercial trucks are counted, but aftermarket sales are not.
Most companies provided their own sales statistics. In some cases, Automotive News used estimates of industry analysts or other sources.
Mergers and acquisitions can complicate the list. TRW Inc.'s figures, for example, reflect its purchase of LucasVarity PLC. LucasVarity is not listed separately, even though it was an independent company at the start of 1999.
Faurecia and AP Automotive Systems Inc. both appear on the list, however. AP Automotive spent most of the year as an independent company; Faurecia acquired it in December.
The Automotive News ranking of top global suppliers of original-equipment parts will be published June 19.
