When the designer of the Avantime decides to produce a sport-utility, it's a safe bet that it won't look like everything else.
Renault SA offered a preview of the Kolios concept vehicle, which was to officially debut at the Geneva Auto Show.
The Kolios' unusual styling has much in common with the Avantime, which will be launched in Europe this fall. Both were styled by designer Michel Jardin.
If Renault were to go ahead with the vehicle, 'we would have to involve Nissan, which has good four-wheel-drive technology,' said Renault styling chief Patrick Le Quement.
'If we were to make a luxury SUV, this is what it would look like,' he said. The Kolios 'is to explore new things. I can't tell you that it is going to be rolled out in two or three years - but it is a serious project.'
Is the North American sport-utility market enticing? 'Of course,' he added. 'It is difficult to ignore and there is always a market for something unusual in the U.S. Kolios is an attempt at what we would do.'
