LOS ANGELES - Nissan has cut prices $150 to $700 on the base models in its 2000 Sentra series. Nissan North America said the average reduction is $559 on a sales-weighted basis.
Price cuts are $150 on the base XE, $700 on the GXE and $300 on the SE. The GXE with the convenience package is $740 less than the 1999 Sentra with the LE package. A CA (Clean Air) model, available only in California, has been added for 2000. All Sentras are four-door sedans.
The 2000 Sentra was designed at Nissan Design International in La Jolla, Calif., and is longer, wider and taller than its predecessor. The standard engine displaces 1.8 liters and develops 126 hp. It replaces the 1.6-liter, 115-hp engine used in the 1999 model.
