General Motors' disbanding of more than 900 dealer marketing groups last year prompted lawsuits against the automaker. The dealers suing GM say the money GM once gave to the dealer marketing groups is legally theirs.
Illinois: More than 70 dealers in the Chicago area last year requested a court injunction to prevent GM from taking funding away from the dealer marketing groups. In November, a Cook County circuit court judge denied the request. The dealers are appealing that decision, said Mike Conway, a lawyer representing the dealers.
Indiana: Eight dealers are seeking class-action status for their lawsuit against GM. The lawsuit is scheduled to go to trial in October, said lawyer Ron Smith, who represents the dealers.
