When Daewoo Motor Co. bought Ssangyong Motor Co. in 1998, it inherited the Musso, a sport-utility Ssangyong had developed with technical assistance from Mercedes-Benz. While Daewoo never tried to sell the Musso in the United States, it did rebadge it as a Daewoo and market it in several other countries. For the 2001 model year, Daewoo will introduce this dramatically styled Musso, and this time U.S. sales are expected. That's assuming Daewoo's new owner - General Motors, Ford Motor Co. or some other automaker - continues with that plan. The Musso is about the size of the Toyota 4Runner. As can be seen in this photo of a prototype, the front is quite rounded and has Daewoo's signature three-part grille opening. Two- and four-wheel-drive models are expected.
