Ford Motor Co. will produce its final Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique at the Kansas City, Mo., plant on Friday, Feb. 4. Contours and Mystiques will continue to be built in Cuautitlan, Mexico, until October.
The Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute will replace the two cars at the Kansas City plant. Since production began in 1994, about 750,800 Contours and 254,000 Mystiques have been built.

Year-to-date car and truck production shares in North America are: General Motors, 31.0 percent; Ford Motor Co., 26.7 percent; DaimlerChrysler, 18.4 percent; Honda of America Manufacturing Inc., 5.9 percent; Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America Inc., 4.7 percent; Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corp. U.S.A., 3.0 percent; Volkswagen, 2.3 percent; New United Motor Manufacturing Inc., 2.0 percent; Subaru-Isuzu Inc., 1.2 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America Inc., 1.0 percent; and others, 3.8 percent.
