Daewoo Motor Co. has introduced the Magnus, a stretch version of the Leganza that is intended for the domestic market and for export. Riding on a 2,700 mm wheelbase, the Magnus is 4,770 mm long and 1,440 mm tall, 100 mm longer and 10 mm taller than the Leganza. The base powerplant is a 2.0-liter, twin-cam inline four rated at 148 hp, but export versions will be offered with a transversely mounted inline-six now in the pipeline. Annual production capacity is 140,000 units. In Korea, where the car went on sale Dec. 2, the Magnus has been priced from the equivalent of $10,710 to $14,100. Exports to Europe and the United States begin in early 2001.
