Carfax offers `Floyd checks'
FAIRFAX, Va. - In an effort to prevent dealers from unknowingly buying flood-damaged vehicles, Carfaxonline.com has added a free service. The 'Free Floyd Check' enables dealers to enter a 17-character vehicle identification number to search the company's database. The search will reveal whether a vehicle was recently registered in a county declared a flood disaster area by federal authorities. Carfax is a vehicle-history service that tracks information such as odometer fraud, manufacturer buybacks and salvage history. Carfaxonline.com is Carfax's online service for dealers.
