Just 11 months into the year, North American car and truck production has passed the full-year record set last year. That record was 16,038,246 vehicles. So far this year, an estimated 16,087,050 cars and trucks have been produced.
North American car production trails 1998's full-year total by 447,560 units. North American truck production surpassed 1998's record 8,041,731 on Nov. 8 and now is 6.2 percent ahead of 1998.
U.S. auto plants were closed Nov. 25-26 for the Thanksgiving holiday. AutoAlliance International Inc. was down all last week.
