Automotive News has hired Susan Carney as a Detroit-based reporter, and Kenn Jones as a copy editor.
Carney, 39, covers Delphi Automotive Systems, dealers and other matters. Carney joined Automotive News from The Ann Arbor News in Ann Arbor, Mich., where she covered the University of Michigan.
She also worked for a decade at AM General Corp. of South Bend, Ind., the company that makes the Hummer. She was director of corporate communications when she left the company in 1996 to pursue a journalism career.
Carney is a graduate of the University of Michigan-Dearborn in Dearborn, Mich., and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York.
Jones, 43, joined Automotive News after 21 years at The Oakland Press in Pontiac, Mich. He started there as a copy editor; was arts and entertainment editor for 15 years; then became assistant news editor; and was promoted to news editor, his last position. In that job, he supervised the copy desk.
He also is a lecturer in news editing at Oakland University in Rochester, Mich.
Jones also has been a correspondent for The Kansas City Star in Kansas City, Mo. He earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo.
