North American car and truck in October was almost the same as in October 1998. The total was down 12,137 units, or 0.8 percent.
Car output dropped 9.2 percent in the United States and 9.5 percent in Canada, but it rose 5.4 percent in Mexico; North American car output dipped 7.9 percent. Truck rose 6.5 percent in the United States, 6.3 percent in Canada and 4.6 percent in Mexico. North American truck output was up 6.4 percent.
Car and truck output declined 0.9 percent in the United States and 2.7 percent in Canada, but it rose 5.1 percent in Mexico. For North America, the October car-truck total slipped 0.8 percent.
North American car and truck reached 15-million on Friday, Nov. 5. North American is up 1,393,568 units over 1998.
