Seeking new market niches, Ford Motor Co. is developing what it calls multiactivity vehicles, or MAVs. This computer rendering shows one of those vehicles, based on the new Fiesta, which is sold in Europe. The body and sheet metal likely will be shared with the standard Fiesta hatchback, but the Fiesta MAV will get bigger fenders, larger wheels, roof bars, a full-length folding sunroof and perhaps an externally mounted spare tire. All-wheel-drive is a possibility. Power will come from a new series of aluminum direct-injection gasoline engines, as well as new common-rail direct-injection diesels produced in cooperation with PSA/Peugeot-Citroen SA.
