TOKYO - In one of the first responses to the stronger yen, importer-distributor Yanase & Co. is cutting the prices on replacement Opel parts sold in Japan.
Yanase will cut the prices of about 230 parts by an average 11.5 percent.
For example, the price of brake pads for an Opel Vectra will drop to ¥12,500, or about $109 at current exchange rates, from $133.
A stronger yen reduces the cost of imported goods in Japan.
A dollar now buys about ¥105, down from about ¥120 last summer.
