Lincoln and Mercury have joined Ford Division in raising the freight charges on 2000 models. The $25 increase applies to all Lincoln Mercury lines except the Mercury Sable.
The new destination fees for Mercury are as follows: Cougar, $425; Mountaineer, $550; Mys-tique, $560; Villager, $605; and Grand Marquis, $630. The Sable stays at $550. The Lincoln charges are $560 for the LS, $665 for the Navigator and $695 for the Continental and Town Car. The Continental and Town Car fee is the highest of any U.S.-made car.
Ford Motor Co. is paying customer rebates of $500 on the 2000 Grand Marquis and $1,000 on the 2000 Mystique and Villager.
Land Rover North America Inc. held the line on its 2000 Discovery II sport-utility and raised the Range Rovers $1,000 and $1,300.
At the top end of the sport-utility market, Hummer models are up $1,108 to $3,777 for 2000. Hummers start at $70,260, including the $875 destination charge.
