Motor homes posted strong gains in August, with deliveries up 9.3 percent over the same month a year ago, to 5,900 units.
The RV industry, including motor homes, towables and conversion vehicles, was up 9.1 percent in August, with 39,700 units delivered. For the year through August, the industry was up 8 percent, with 330,800 units delivered.
Class A motor homes, the biggest coaches on the market, rose 5.4 percent in August, with 3,900 units delivered. Class C motor homes were up 21.4 percent, with 1,700 units.
Towable RVs were the volume leader in August, with 20,300 units delivered, up 5.7 percent.
Total shipments to RV dealers were up 6.5 percent in August, to 26,200 units. Through the first eight months of the year, shipments to RV retailers were up 8.4 percent, to 222,300.
Conversion vehicles posted strong gains in August, up 14.4 percent, to 13,500 units.
