Fed up with costly and ineffective Web page developers, Wheeler's Las Vegas RV has decided to simplify its Web page.
By year end, Wheeler's plans to greet visitors to www.wheelersrv. com with a home page featuring mainly a toll-free telephone number for the dealership.
Gone will be current features such as an electronic sales lot and pages detailing Wheeler's history.
Lynn Cusey, Wheeler's general manager, said Web page developers have given him the run-around.
'It's been very frustrating dealing with some of them,' he said. 'I've taken a lot of heat over this.'
One problem is that the features highlighted on the Web page are not always available. Also, customers have come to the store complaining that they could not get access to the sales page or another part of the site, Cusey said.
Marlene Wheeler, co-owner of the dealership, said some Web developers she has worked with during the past 18 months have been little more than fly-by-night operations, promising more than they deliver.
Now, said Wheeler, 'we've just decided to go with a simple site, give the customer a way to call us and talk with a real person.'
